Bring Your Investor Letter Archive Into the Portal
A past LP letter should join the archive without emailing investors again or changing the next draft window.
Your investor portal should not begin on the day you adopt it. Past letters are part of a fund's record, even if you wrote them in another tool. In GPAgent, you can add a past issue to the archive without sending it again. The date investors see is the date you originally sent it, not the date you imported it.
- Add a past issue by pasting its text or attaching the original PDF.
- Select the fund, audience, and original send date.
- Review how it reads in the investor archive.
- Importing does not email investors or rewrite a later letter's reporting window.
An archive that starts halfway through the story is hard to use
Imagine Northwind Capital moved its investor updates into GPAgent in September. Fund I's March and June letters still matter. An investor joining a later close needs to see what the fund told its LPs before that investor arrived. The GP also needs a record of what was already covered, without forwarding old emails by hand.
Add a past issue puts that letter into the fund's Updates archive. Paste the letter or attach its PDF, choose the date it was originally sent, and choose who can read it. GPAgent does not treat this as a new send. There is no email blast and no claim that GPAgent delivered the original.
| Action | What investors see | What happens to the next draft |
|---|---|---|
| Import an older Fund I letter | A dated issue in Fund I's archive | The latest actual send remains the starting point |
| Import a newer letter sent outside GPAgent | A dated issue in the chosen audience's archive | Its later date can become the new starting point |
| Add a firm-wide issue | The issue in each eligible fund archive | No fund draft is moved by that firm-wide issue |
The distinction is useful: a backdated letter fills a gap in the record. A genuinely newer letter changes what you should cover next. An import is not a scheduled send.
Keep the original document private
If you attach a PDF, it is not a public blog-style file URL. An authorized reader opens it through a short-lived link. The fund still chooses the issue's audience. That does not make the portal a substitute for the administrator's investor-specific statements or tax documents.
Start with the letters that answer the question an LP would otherwise email you: "What did you say last quarter?" Then check one issue as an investor before adding the rest. There is no bulk-import promise here. The work is deliberately one issue at a time so the fund can confirm the date, audience, and document are right.

FAQ
Will importing an old letter email everyone again?
No. Adding a past issue places it in the selected archive; it does not send an email. The original send happened outside this import.
Will an old March issue make my next update start in March?
No. An older import does not move the latest-letter marker backward. A newer issue that was really sent later can move it forward.
Can I upload a folder of PDFs at once?
Not today. Add and review each past issue individually. GPAgent does not extract the letter text from a PDF for you.
