Share a YC Company Shortlist Without Sharing Your Deal CRM

A fund can send a live, read-only list of public company profiles while keeping its deal stages, thesis notes, and files private.

An investor asks for the companies you are watching in a YC batch. Sending a screenshot of your pipeline is fast, but the screenshot can carry your stage labels, investment notes, and work in progress. Send a list of public company profiles instead. The recipient needs to know which companies you mean, not what your partnership thinks of each one.

  1. Select the companies from your deal board or public catalog.
  2. Check that each selection has a public company profile.
  3. Create a read-only company-list link and inspect it as a recipient.
  4. Share the link, not your internal deal view.
  5. Revoke the link when the collaboration ends.

Decide what the recipient actually needs

For a batch-research conversation, a company name without a source is not very helpful. A private stage or valuation is usually too much. The handoff should let another investor open the public listing and assess the company independently.

The difference is implemented in GPAgent's public company-list shares. You can select companies in Deals, give the list a title, and create a read-only recipient page. The page reads from the public company projection, not the private deal record. The share API documentation also documents the creation and revocation endpoints for teams that make lists from their own workflows.

There is a deliberate constraint: a deal without a linked public company profile cannot become a public-list entry just because someone selected it. Check the returned selection before sending. If a private company is absent, do not add its confidential detail to the list title as a workaround.

Test the boundary with a recipient's eyes

Open the generated /share/companies/ link as someone who is not signed in. Confirm the title, membership, public descriptions, and source links. Look for a deal stage, a partner's note, a file name, a thesis assessment, or an activity trail. None belongs in the recipient view. The share page is marked noindex, so the link is for deliberate collaboration, not a way to publish your fund's research into search results.

The underlying public company records can change as source listings are refreshed. That makes a live list more useful than a screenshot, but it also means you should not present it as a dated diligence snapshot. Save your own decision record separately if you need to explain what you knew on a particular day. Once the discussion is over, revoke the share. A revoked link no longer resolves to an active company list.

The YC company directory is the outside check on public descriptions. A public profile is a starting point for diligence, not a fund endorsement. If your team wants this kind of controlled collaboration inside its deal workflow, book a GPAgent demo. A demo page visit is not evidence that a reader booked.

FAQ

Can the recipient see the fund's pipeline stage?

No. A company-list share uses a public-safe projection rather than the deal pipeline. Inspect the actual recipient page before forwarding the link, especially if its title was entered by someone on your team.

Does revoking the link erase a copy someone already made?

No. Revocation stops the active link from serving the list. It cannot recall a screenshot or notes a recipient already saved, so only share information you are comfortable disclosing in the first place.
